Aer Arann to end three PSO routes

Aer Arann chairman Pádraig Ó Céidigh stated the regional airline will not continue operating PSO routes from Sligo, Knock and Galway to Dublin from 21-Jul-2011 after the government withdraws the subsidy (RTE, 07-Apr-2011). The chairman said the routes would no longer be viable with passenger numbers having continued to decline in recent years. Transport Minister Leo Varadkar said the decision was regrettable but added there were not enough government "resources" to reverse the decision.
