UNWTO: Asia Pacific to add more than 250 million new tourists in next 15 years

UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reported (21-Oct-2016) the Asia Pacific region received 278 million tourists in 2015 (+4% year-on-year) and projected tourist arrivals will reach 535 million by 2030, accounting for nearly a third of global tourism. The Asia Pacific region was the fastest growing in terms of international tourist arrivals in 1H2016 with a growth rate of 9%, well above the global increase of 4%. The Asia Pacific region is projected to attract the most new arrivals of any region over the next 15 years, with China becoming a leading tourism destination - 4th in the world after France, the US and Spain.
