09-Apr-2013 Airport Authority of India: New Terminal Building comes into full operations at Chennai Airport from tomorrow

With effect from 10.04.2013, the new terminal building recently inaugurated by Vice President of India will be fully operational as Air India & Jet Airways are starting their operations from the new domestic terminal building tomorrow. Indigo & Go Air will shift their operations to the new building on 11.04.2013.

In view of commencement of operations from the new building, the city side traffic pattern for domestic operations will be changed with immediate effect for the passenger convenience. Henceforth, all the vehicular traffic for domestic arrival / departure will turn towards right after entry in to the Airport (below the Fly-over) from GST Road signal and will be routed through the new terminal building at Ground Floor Level. Sign Boards are available at all locations at airport for the guidance of the drivers.

Vehicles, carrying domestic passengers shall take elevated corridor ramp (on right hand side) on entering the airport premises. On dropping the passengers, vehicles shall exit from the new international existing ramp to join the service road of GST. To facilitate smooth movement of vehicle traffic and passenger movement with trolleys, AAI has decided to use two (02) entry gates (i.e. Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 3) to NDTB out of available four (04) gates. Go Air, Indigo and Air India shall be operate from East Wing of check-in area to facilitate entry from Gate No. 1. Jet Air and Spice Jet shall operate from West Wing of check-in area and shall facilitate entry from Gate No. 3. However, for international flights, there will not be any change and the existing traffic pattern will continue.
