GE to supply 34 engines for China Eastern's Boeing 787s

Beijing (XFN-ASIA) - China Eastern Airlines has placed an order for 34 jet engines from General Electric to power the carrier's fleet of Boeing 787s, US Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez said in a statement. Financial or delivery date details were not provided.

The US Trade and Development Agency also awarded a 560,000 usd training grant to China Eastern Airlines in support of the GE engine order, US Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez said in a statement.

"This agreement will help China develop its aviation sector infrastructure while growing demand for US aviation goods and services, manufacturers and providers," Gutierrez said.

The statement added that the grant will fund training for China Eastern personnel.
