All Nippon Airways to raise domestic fares next year due to high fuel costs

The airline will raise average fares by JPY1,000, or up to 6%, passing about half of the increased fuel costs for next year on to customers, ANA president Mineo Yamamoto told reporters.

ANA estimates its jet fuel costs will increase by 60 bln yen in the year to March 2007 from the preceding year.

But ANA will not raise fares in the current year to March 2006 as it has offset the increase in fuel prices by cutting costs in other operational activities, Yamamoto said.
