Meerut Bheem Rao Ambedkar Airport serves the city of Meerut, in Uttar Pradesh, India. The Government of Uttar Pradesh signed an MoU with Airports Authority of India to develop the airstrip into an international airport. Under the MoU, the government agreed to transfer ownership rights of four airports (including Meerut) to Airports Authority of India. The development was scheduled for completion in 2016. However, land acquisition and administrative issues have hampered the expansion project.
