Iran Aseman Airlines
Little known outside Iran, predominantly domestic Iran Aseman Airlines is based at Tehran’s Mehrabad International and Imam Khomeini International airports, and Shiraz International Airport, with secondary hubs at Mashad, Shiraz and Dubai airports. Iran Aseman accounts for a 41% share of the domestic market, to Iran Air’s 36%, operating to almost 40 cities across Iran’s underdeveloped market (with a system of less than 200,000 seats per week); Aseman also operates limited scheduled regional services to Turkey, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
Unlike government owned Iran Air, Aseman is a private sector company, previously owned by the Civil Servant Pension Foundation, now operating as a public joint stock company.
