About

Cubana de Aviacion (Cubana) was founded on 08-Oct-1929 and commenced operations in 1930. Cubana is the national carrier of Cuba and operates services to over 20 destinations domestically as well as internationally to North America, South America, the Caribbean and Europe. Cubana’s hub is at Havana Jose Marti International Airport. Pan American World Airways acquired Cubana in 1932 and in 1945 Cuban businessmen bought a majority share in the airline. Cuba’s government assumed control of the carrier in 1959 and it has operated as a state-owned enterprise under parent, Corporacion Cubana de Aviacion ever since. Cubana also cooperates extensively with Russian carrier Aeroflot on a codesharing basis as well as in the areas of aircraft supply, maintenance and expertise.
