Zimbabwe loses 1000 pilots over past two decades

Zimbabwe has lost more than 1000 pilots over the past two decades, with the turmoil in the aviation industry said to have seen the sector operating at 10% to 15% of its capacity 10 years ago (Financial Gazette, 15-Apr-2011). At least four pilots have been leaving the country every month for the past 20 years. The report comes as Air Zimbabwe pilots are striking to recover USD9 million they claim they are owed in salaries and allowances.
