Wizz Air considers base in Skopje

Wizz Air is reportedly considering establishing a base in Republic of Macedonia's capital, Skopje (EX-YU Aviation News, 05-Apr-2011). The carrier will commence service from London Luton and Venice to Skopje during summer 2011 and is receiving concessions by TAV Holdings. Wizz Air is reportedly studying the prospect of launching services from Charleroi to Skopje. In 2011, Macedonia will fully implement the European Free Sky agreement, which would allow Wizz Air to easily establish a base in the country. Skopje Airport's new Euro terminal is set to open in Oct-2011. Together with a new terminal building, the airport's runway has also been lengthened.
