Bombardier touts cost per passenger advantage for C Series

Bombardier reported (19-May-2016) the C Series family will offer a 25% to 35% lower cost per passenger on board compared to larger current generation narrowbodies, making the CS100 and CS300 "ideal complements to the larger A320/A321 and 737-800/737-900". According to Bombardier, the 100-150 seat C Series will allow airlines to open secondary and tertiary markets, stimulating traffic, adding passengers through hubs and allowing airlines to serve markets where there is no competition. The company has observed that aircraft upsizing based on a cost-per-seat strategy to extract margin has driven many airlines out of secondary markets. [more - original PR]
