WebJet stated it received an offer from Ryanair Holdings to acquire an undisclosed equity stake in the Brazilian airline (Bloomberg, 30-Jan-2010). WebJet owner, Guilherme Paulus, “received a first contact and heard a proposal from Ryanair,” according to the Brazilian airline. Talks with Ryanair are likely to resume once Brazil enacts a new law, expected in Mar-2010, that will increase foreign ownership in Brazilian airlines from the current 20% to 49%.
