Virgin Atlantic signs sale and leaseback agreement with AerCap for seven 787-9s

Virgin Atlantic signed (28-Aug-2014) a sale and leaseback agreement with AerCap Holdings for seven on order Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Each aircraft will be leased on a twelve-year term, with deliveries scheduled to commence in Oct-2014. AerCap currently has ten 787 aircraft in its portfolio, with 74 committed purchases. AerCap CEO Aengus Kelly said: "We are extremely proud to have Virgin Atlantic, one of the world's most innovative airlines, continue its long-standing partnership with AerCap by entering into this important transaction." According to the CAPA Fleet Database, Virgin Atlantic currently has 16 787-9 aircraft on order, with delivery scheduled to conclude in 2018. [more - original PR]
