Virgin America CEO expects merger to open competition in US

Virgin America CEO David Cush, stated the proposed merger between Continental Airlines and United Airlines presents an opportunity for the US Government to open competition within the US by opening slots and gates at US airports (San Francisco Business Times, 04-Jun-2010).

Virgin America: "The government has a very good opportunity to go in and preserve competition, not only for Virgin America, but if we get lazy, fat and boring 10 years down the road, for the next carrier to shake up the market. It's crucial for our airline, but it's also crucial for the structure of our industry." David Cush, CEO of Virgin America. Source: San Francisco Business Times, 04-Jun-2010.
