US carriers 3Q2011 operating profit down 36%: BTS

US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reported (06-Jan-2012) the following financial highlights for domestic US airlines* for the three months ended 30-Sep-2011:

• Operating revenue: USD46,931 million, +1.0% year-on-year;
• Operating profit: 2878 million, -35.5%;
• Passenger numbers: 213.8 million, +1.4%.
