US BTS reports 2.2% rise in system passenger numbers in Jan-2011
US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reports (14-Apr-2011) the following total system (domestic and international) traffic results for US airlines in Jan-2011:
- Passenger numbers: 53.7 million, +2.2% year-on-year;
- Passenger traffic (RPMs): +3.5%;
- Capacity (ASMs): +2.3%;
- Load factor: 76.5%, +0.8 ppt;
According to BTS, Southwest remained the largest US airline, by total scheduled system enplanements in Jan-2011. The top ten airlines are as follows:
- Southwest: 8.3 million, +9.7%;
- Delta: 8.0 million, +1.6%;
- American: 6.7 million, +0.1%;
- US Airways: 4.0 million, +3.7%;
- United: 3.9 million, -5.5%;
- Continental: 3.5 million, +4%;
- JetBlue: 1.9 million, +9.4%;
- Skywest: 1.8 million, +5.6%;
- AirTran: 1.7 million, -0.6%;
- Alaska: 1.3 million, +11.2%. [more]
