US Airways reports highest third quarter profit in 3Q2012

US Airways revenue up 3% - financial highlights for three months ended 30-Sep-2012:

  • Total operating revenue: USD3533 million, +2.8% year-on-year;
  • Total operating costs: USD3265 million, +0.3%;
    • Fuel: USD893 million, -1.3%;
    • Labour: USD609 million, +5.5%;
    • Express fuel: USD272 million, -0.5%;
  • Operating profit: USD268 million, +48.9%;
  • Net profit: USD245 million, +224%;
  • Passenger numbers: 1.1 million, +2.0%;
  • Passenger load factor: 84.9%, -0.1 ppt;
  • Yield: USD 16.04 cents, +0.6%;
  • Passenger revenue per ASM: USD 13.63 cents, +0.5%;
  • Total revenue per ASM: USD 15.22 cents, +0.1%;
  • Operating cost per ASM: USD 14.07 cents, -2.4%;
  • Cost per ASM excl fuel and special items: USD 8.99 cents, -1.7%;
  • Total assets: USD9320 million, +11.8% when compared to period ended 31-Dec-2011;
  • Cash and cash equivalents: USD2435 million, +25.1% when compared to period ended 31-Dec-2011;
  • Total liabilities: USD8561 million, +4.6% when compared to period ended 31-Dec-2011;
  • FY2012 forecast:
    • Mainline capacity (ASMs): 74,200 million;
    • Mainline cost per ASM excl fuel, special items and profit sharing: stable to +2% year-on-year;
