United Airlines sees possibility of more consolidation

United Airlines CEO, Glenn Tilton, commented that recent capital raising activity by US carriers has "probably" improved balance sheets enough to support any future merger activity, and the 12-18 month integration process necessary in such transactions (Financial Times, 28-Oct-2009). Mr Tilton stated there is still an excess of capacity in the US market and that consolidation should have a role in the future of the US market.
