Thai AirAsia to operate 51 aircraft at the end of 2016, add five to six p/a

Thai AirAsia CEO Tassapon Bijleveld, speaking on CAPA TV, said (09-Nov-2016) the airline will deploy its first A320neo aircraft, delivered at the end of Oct-2016, on its longest routes to either China or Bali. The carrier expects to receive one more aircraft in 2016, increasing its total deliveries for the year to six aircraft and its total fleet to 51. Mr Tassapon said 36 to 38 of the aircraft will be based in Bangkok and the rest will be distributed across five other hubs in Thailand. The airline will receive five to six aircraft p/a over the next five years, with around half likely to be deployed to China. [more - CAPA TV]
