South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs reports (25-Jul-2012) international passenger numbers rose 14.6% year-on-year for the six months ended Jun-2012:
- Passenger numbers:
- International: 22.9 million, +14.6% year-on-year;
- Domestic: 11.0 million, +9.1%;
- LCCs: 4.7 million, +16%;
- Cargo volume: 1.7 million tonnes, -1.4%.
According to the Ministry, South Korea’s full service carriers accounted for 66.7% of total international passengers in 1H2012, up 1.0 ppt while the nation’s LCCs accounted for 6.8% of the total international passenger numbers, up 3.2 ppts. South Korea’s LCCs accounted for 43.1%, up 2.6 ppts of the total domestic passenger numbers in 1H2012.
