South Korean LCCs building their presence

South Korea's Transport Ministry stated it expects the growth of LCCs to "increase the size of the air market, as well as bring a healthy impact to the market currently dominated by the two major airlines" (The Korea Herald, 03-Feb-2010). LCCs had over a 32% domestic capacity share in 2008, with the LCCs expanding internationally, due to some liberalisation in Korea, Japan and China markets. The Ministry added that the average ticket price offered by LCCs is 20-40% lower than major carriers.
