Ryanair to open Gdansk base in Oct-2014

Ryanair announced (08-Apr-2014) plans to open its third base in Poland at Gdansk in Oct-2014, with one based aircraft and three new routes: Gdansk-Birmingham; Gdansk-Leeds/Bradford; and Gdansk-Warsaw Modlin. The carrier expects the new routes will add 700,000 passengers p/a, with Ryanair to invest more than USD90 million at the airport. Weekly frequencies will increase from 54 to 94. Ryanair deputy director of route development Niall O'Connor said: "Ryanair is delighted to announce that we will be opening a new base at Gdansk this winter, offering 10 exciting routes, including 3 new winter routes to Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and Warsaw Modlin, which will deliver some 700,000 passengers annually and sustain over 700 "on-site" jobs at Gdansk Airport, as Ryanair invests over $90m at Gdansk."
