Rolls-Royce and UTC abandon planned collaboration for mid-size aircraft engines

Rolls-Royce and United Technologies Corp (UTC) announced (19-Sep-2013) the parties have agreed not to proceed with a proposed engine partnership. In Oct-2011, Rolls-Royce and UTC announced their intention to form a new JV to develop an engine to power future mid-size aircraft, of 120-230 seats. Following further discussion, and because of the current regulatory environment, the parties have abandoned the plans. Rolls-Royce stated that it remains fully committed to this important market segment and will continue to invest in technologies that will enable us to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
