Queenstown Lakes District Council to defend legal challenges

New Zealand's Queenstown Lakes District Council will defend legal challenges brought by the Queenstown Community Strategic Assets Group and Air New Zealand over the stake sale of part of its airport to Auckland Airport (Business Day, 30-Aug-2010). The decision followed an extraordinary meeting of the council on 30-Aug-2010. The group has applied to the High Court for a judicial review of the sale. A hearing date has yet to be set by the High Court at Christchurch.
