Qantas states leisure demand falls beyond LCC competition

Qantas stated it has seen leisure demand fall beyond the affects of rising LCC competition, driving domestic fares to new lows (The Australian, 19-May-2010). The carrier stated the decline was evident on domestic and international routes, attributed to a rise in interest rates, the withdrawal of government stimulus spending and increasing petrol prices.
