Qantas rejects suggestions international division is shrinking

Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce, speaking at the carrier's AGM, said (24-Oct-2014) Qantas International is not shrinking but is growing "where there's an economic and justifiable case to do it." Mr Joyce said Qantas International had struggled with overcapacity into Australia from international markets and high fuel prices, noting: "Almost everybody is losing money because of overcapacity for four years." Mr Joyce continued: "I wish there was an easy fix... This is a hard yakka to try and fix this business get it back into profitability and involves us changing almost everything we're doing in a lot of areas."
