Qantas introduces new check-in fees

Qantas has introduced its new domestic baggage charge system, where passengers will pay up to AUD60 per suitcase to check-in additional luggage (The Australian, 02-Jun-2011). The airline has switched from a weight-based penalty system to one based on the number of bags, in which passengers must pay between AUD15-60 per extra bag. The first bag remains free, but for economy passengers the second piece of luggage will cost AUD15 if booked online or AUD30 at the airport. Third and all subsequent check-in luggage will cost AUD60 each with passengers paying a AUD20 penalty if the weight is between 23kg and 32kg.
