Premium traffic up 9.5% in May-2011: IATA
IATA reports (14-Jul-2011) the following premium traffic growth highlights by region in May-2011:
- Total international: +9.5% year-on-year;
- Within Africa: +3.7%;
- Within Far East: +16.4%;
- Within Middle East: -3.6%;
- Within North America: -11.7%;
- Within Southwest Pacific: -22.1%;
- Within Europe: +11.2%. [more]
IATA: "The experience with passenger yields differs a lot between markets. US airlines are continuing to see yields expanding close to 10% a year, though there has been some slowdown recently. However, the gains have been around half that in Europe. Industry wide we estimate that premium revenues are expanding at an annual pace in the low teens," Source: Company statement, 14-Jul-2011.
