Phuket Airport commences USD179m expansion

Thailand's Phuket International Airport commenced its USD179 million expansion (Bangkok Post, 02-Jul-2010). Airports of Thailand Plc recently agreed to hire a consortium, led by Index Consultant, as project management consultant to modernise the airport and raise passenger capacity by 92% over the next five years. On completion in 2014, the airport will handle 12.5 million passengers p/a compared with the current 6.5 million.
