PAL denied permission to operate in Europe

Philippine Airlines has not been granted permission to operate to Europe (malaya.com, 06-Jun-2011). Airport safety concerns have also been raised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. Philippine Airlines President and Chief Executive Jaime Bautista stated these safety concerns "do not in any way reflect on PAL's compliance with international safety standards but rather on the safety oversight capability of the Philippine government, particularly the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines". He further stated the international agencies found deficiencies not in PAL but on the capability of the CAAP to oversee the operations of local carriers.
