Norwegian to open long-haul base at London Gatwick Airport

Norwegian announced (22-Aug-2014) plans to open a long-haul base at UK's London Gatwick Airport, with both pilots and cabin crew to be based at the airport in support of its long-haul operations. The carrier expects to begin recruitment of Gatwick-based cabin crew in early 2015. Norwegian opened a short-haul base at the airport in 2013, with 90 pilots and 200 cabin crew currently based at London Gatwick. Norwegian director of flight operations Torstein Hoås said: "Our hiring in the UK has been well received and many pilots are keen to be based at London Gatwick and work for an innovative and forward-thinking company that offers highly competitive wages and conditions as well as the opportunity to fly the most technologically advanced aircraft in the skies today, the 787 Dreamliner."
