Norwegian launches new routes between Scandinavia and Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orlando

Norwegian announced (03-Sep-2013) plans to launch new routes between Scandinavia and Los Angeles (LAX), Oakland-San Francisco (OAK) and Orlando (MCO) in spring 2014. Norwegian will operate Boeing 787 equipment on the routes. At the same time Norwegian will launch Copenhagen-New York JFK service. Norwegian continues to launch new intercontinental routes as it takes delivery of more 787s. Los Angeles, Oakland-San Francisco and Orlando are the newest additions to the airline's intercontinental route map with Norwegian CEO Bjørn Kjos stating, "I'm very happy to announce the launch of three new intercontinental destinations. The major traffic streams currently go between the US and Europe and there's great demand for high quality flights at a low fare between the two continents". The carrier also noted that no other airlines offer nonstop flights from Oslo to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orlando; from Stockholm to Los Angeles and San Francisco or from Copenhagen to Los Angeles. Norwegian currently operates six times weekly between Scandinavia and New York as well as five times weekly between Scandinavia and Bangkok. In Nov-2013, the airline will commence service from Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen to Fort Lauderdale. Norwegian's first long-haul flights took place in May-2013, with Mr Kjo noting, "So far the response to our New York, Bangkok and Fort Lauderdale routes has been tremendous. Most of our flights have been fully booked over the summer. Our offer has not only been well received by Scandinavian passengers travelling to the US or Asia, but also Asians and Americans going to Scandinavia and beyond". Details of the new routes are as follows:
