New Long Thanh International Airport to require USD6 billion investment

Vietnam's Southern Airports Corporation (SAC) stated construction of a new airport in Southern Vietnam, around the location of the existing Long Thanh International Airport, will require investment of USD6 billion in its first stage (Thanh Nien Daily, 08-Oct-2009). Once operational in 2020 at the latest, Long Thanh Airport will have capacity handle 100 million passengers p/a. The airport is to be four times the size of the country's largest existing airport, Ho Chi Mihn City Tan Son Nhat International Airport, which has capacity for 15-17 million p/a.
