Munich Airport signs cooperation agreement with Viracopos

Germany's Munich Airport stated (10-May-2013) it has signed an agreement with Brazilian airport operating company Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos (ABV) as the basis for extensive consulting services through FMG. Under the agreement, FMG will not only guide the launch of the new terminal building and aprons at Campinas Airport, but will also provide planning support for the expansion of that airport and in traffic development. In addition, the Munich Airport operating company will advise the local management on the introduction of state-of-the-art processes to boost quality and efficiency. The consulting agreement with Viracopos is worth approximately EUR7 million, and is set to run initially through to the end of 2014. Munich Airport will be involved in the activities of Campinas Airport in the areas of flight operations, management tasks, safety and quality assurance. Experts from Germany's second-largest airport will be onsite in Brazil to help optimise the airport's expansion planning. The Munich consultants will focus on the preparations to open the facility and provide support with ongoing operations, airline marketing and traffic development. The Bavarian specialists will also contribute their expertise in IT systems and the coordination of ramp operations as well as the ongoing development of a master plan. [more - original PR]
