Mango celebrates 10th anniversary, forecasts flat market conditions and strong competition

Mango celebrated (15-Nov-2016) the 10th anniversary of its first service on 15-Nov-2016. The airline recorded more than 20 million passengers, including an estimated two million first time flyers, more than 126,000 services across eight destinations and reported average on time performance of more than 90%. The airline said it contributed more than ZAR100 million (USD6.9 million) to South Africa's economy through collection of taxes and fees. The carrier expects market conditions to remain flat and competition to remain "fierce" in the next 18 months. In the short-term, the airline will focus on maintaining and growing market share and driving cost control and operational efficiency. The airline does not plan to announce new destinations or expand its fleet. [more - original PR]
