LuxairGroup approves fleet renewal plan

LuxairGroup's board of directors approved (06-Feb-2015) a fleet renewal strategy proposal from Luxair's management board. The two-phase strategy is based on the carrier's need to "increase its capacity in order to ensure its growth whilst cutting unitary costs." Luxair will initially purchase three Bombardier Q400 aircraft in order to replace Embraer E145 equipment, with plans to add options for a further two Q400s. The second phase involves the purchase of "new generation jet aircraft", with deliveries between 2018 and 2020. LuxairGroup stated: "After the scheduled delivery in 2016 of the Bombardier Q400s, the Luxair fleet will be composed of at least ten Bombardier Q400s and a Boeing 737-700, flown by Luxair Luxembourg Airlines, alongside three Boeing 737-800s and a Boeing 737-700 dedicated to LuxairTours."[more - original PR]
