Lufthansa confident on achieving 2011 financial targets

Lufthansa CEO Christoph Lanz stated the carrier is confident on achieving its targets for 2011 (Reuters/Bloomberg, 30-Aug-2011). "For 2011, I confirm we are aiming for a positive result above that of the previous year. We have four months of the year left, but I'm confident," Mr Lanz said. He added the carrier is "relatively stable in an unstable industry," reporting an EBIT of EUR876 million in 2010. He stated that while the Euro zone crisis has impacted customers, it is still seeing good demand, with passenger numbers rising. The carrier is considering options for its loss-making units but there are no concretes plans for bmi or Austrian Airlines. No decision has been made on its plans to look for strategic partners for its IT division.
