London-Gulf low-cost long-haul market would be 'very strong': BA

British Airways' Area Commercial Manager for the Middle East, Paolo De Renzis, stated a low-cost long-haul carrier operating between London and the Gulf would be "very strong" but added that British Airways has no such plans for a LCC (Arabian Business, 17-Jun-2010). In May-2010, Qatar Airways registered a logo and name as part of its much-discussed contingency plan for a LCC.

British Airways: "In Europe and the UK we saw huge growth in terms of low cost carriers and I think the Middle East is a very good market for low cost so we might see in the future some developments on that front," Paolo De Renzis, Commercial Manager for the Middle East.
