London Gatwick Airport and easyJet cooperating to compete with Heathrow

London Gatwick Airport CCO Guy Stephenson, speaking at the CAPA LCC Airports Congress, said (15-Sep-2015) the airport is working with easyJet to jointly compete against London Heathrow Airport. Mr Stephenson outlined rail connectivity, core processes and automated security processes as areas of focus, stating that the airport tripled the productivity of its security area, allowing the area to be reduced in size, creating more space for food and beverage outlets. Mr Stephenson described the airport's new Gatwick Connect product as "a significant development" and said the airport is concentrating on making existing facilities more efficient rather than construction new terminals.
