KLM expands Asian and LatAm network amid reduction in trans-Atlantic capacity

KLM President and CEO Peter Hartman, as quoted in IATA's Airlines International, stated (01-Aug-2011) the carrier is introducing more Asian and Latin American destinations in the 2011 winter schedule. The carrier is adding Xiamen to its network, increasing frequency to Guangzhou, resuming service to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires and adding Havana. Meanwhile, the carrier's JV with Delta and Alitalia will mean a 7-9% reduction in services across the Atlantic, largely because of oil prices as well as fluctuating seasonal demand.
