Jetstar confirms plans to transition to all-787 fleet by Sep-2015, outlines rollout schedule
Jetstar Airways confirmed (25-Feb-2015) plans to remove A330-200 aircraft from its fleet by Sep-2015 as it transitions to an all Boeing 787-8 long-haul fleet. The carrier will introduce three additional 787s in 2015, to assume the following services:
- Six times weekly Sydney-Honolulu service from 19-Feb-2015;
- Four times weekly Tokyo (Narita)-Melbourne service from 10-Jul-2015;
- Five times weekly Singapore-Melbourne service from 05-Aug-2015;
- Three times weekly Melbourne-Honolulu service from 14-Sep-2015;
- Three times weekly Brisbane-Honolulu service from 14-Sep-2015;
Jetstar Group CEO Jayne Hrdlicka said: "The introduction of this aircraft has fundamentally changed the economics of our long-haul flying with the substantial fuel savings it delivers... This will enable us to offer a more consistent experience across our long-haul international network and unlock further cost benefits."
