Jetstar Japan will be as big as our business in Australia: Jetstar Group CEO

Jetstar Group CEO Jayne Hrdlicka, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, said (08-Aug-2014) Jetstar Japan has grown to 50% of the total LCC market in the country, which itself is now 7% of the total market. Ms Hrdlicka said: "In time we believe that the Jetstar Japan business will be as big or bigger than our business in Australia, given the size and scale of the Japanese market.... It is delivering well ahead of our expectations and the fundamentals in Japan for its age and stage are better than the fundamentals were in Australia at the same point." Ms Hrdlicka noted Jetstar is now one of the most recognised brands in Japan and is the country's fourth largest airline.
