Japan MLIT: Domestic pax below 80 million for the first time since 1995

Japan MLIT reported domestic passenger numbers fell to below 80 million for the first time since 1995 in 2011 (People's Daily, 30-Jul-2012). As previously reported, Japan domestic air passenger numbers fell 3.8% year-on-year, the fifth consecutive decline, to 79.1 million in 2011 and also down 18.5% when compared to 97.0 million record set in 2006. International passenger numbers fell 8.1% for the fourth consecutive year to 12.6 million.
