JAL announces short-term reduction in capacity on 5 international routes

JAL Group (JAL) announced (09-Dec-2009) plans to make temporary adjustments to its international flight frequency and fleet plan for 2HFY2009, with frequency on two routes to be reduced between Jan-2010 and Mar-2010, due to expected weak demand - see Route Changes Table for more information. Capacity will also be lowered by downsizing aircraft size on three other international routes:

  • Tokyo Narita-Sao Paulo via New York: Reduced from three times weekly to twice weekly, between 01-Feb-2010 and 27-Mar-2010;
  • Tokyo Narita-Shanghai: Reduction in frequency from 28 to 21 times weekly, between 18-Jan-2010 and 27-Mar-2010;
  • Tokyo Haneda-Beijing: Aircraft change from B777-200ER to B767-300ER between 18-Jan-2010 and 27-Mar-2010;
  • Tokyo Narita-Beijing: Aircraft change from B767-300ER to B737-800 between 18-Jan-2010 and 27-Mar-2010;
  • Tokyo Haneda-Hong Kong: Aircraft change from B777-200ER to B767-300ER between 18-Jan-2010 and 27-Mar-2010. [more]
