Israel Airports Authority publishes Ramon International Airport tender

Israel Airports Authority (IAA) published (16-Jul-2012) a tender to select an engineering company to manage construction of the new Ramon International Airport in Timna, located 19km north of Eilat. The airport is expected to take three years to construct and will become Israel's second international airport after Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport. The company awarded the contract will be responsible for the planning, construction, and oversight of the airport. Timna Airport will replace Eilat's current airport, which will be redeveloped for non-aviation purposes, and will serve as an alternative international airport to Tel Aviv during emergencies. Submissions for the tender are due by 13-Sep-2012. [more - original PR - Hebrew]
