Irish Government engaged in negotiations with IAG over Aer Lingus in a positive manner

Ireland's Minister for Tourism, Transport and Sport Paschal Donahue, speaking at CAPA's Airlines in Transition Conference on 25/26-Mar-2015, stated (25-Mar-2015) the future ownership of Aer Lingus has been a matter of "gigantic" interest in Ireland and its importance to the country in terms of employment and international access is critical to the Irish economy. Aer Lingus has been "instrumental" in the development of aviation in the country. The government is engaged in ongoing contact with IAG over the ownership of the carrier and they have taken place in a "workmanlike and positive way". The Minister said he wants to see the conclusion of those talks within the next few weeks.
