India to focus on quick implementation of Navi Mumbai

India's Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has put the implementation of Navi Mumbai International Airport on fast-track (business standard, 15-Jan-2011). Mr Chavan has directed the Urban Development Department and the state-run City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) to complete the necessary work by the end of 2011 so that the construction can commence from Jan-2012. Cidco has been told to invite global tenders by Jun-2011 so that the contract can be granted by Dec-2011.
