IAG calls on India to spell out aviation policy before investing

International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (IAG) CEO Willie Walsh stated he has requested the Indian Government to spell out its aviation policy as the carrier stated it would consider investing in an Indian carrier if foreign ownership regulations are relaxed (Live Mint, 16-Mar-2011).

International Consolidated Airlines Group: "I think there is a contradiction ... there is very high level of tax here. You can't expect airlines to grow and help fuel further economic growth and at the same time impose very high levels of tax either through the fuel tax or service tax. That's clearly going to damage the airlines. So I think the call for a more comprehensive aviation policy is a good call," Willie Walsh, CEO. Source: Live Mint, 16-Mar-2011.
