Hawaiian Airlines says US consolidation has created 'tremendous' capacity discipline

Hawaiian Airlines president & CEO Mark Dunkerley, on CAPA TV, said (07-Aug-2014) a consequence of US airline consolidation is a "tremendous amount of capacity discipline" and lesser focus on connecting traffic. Mr Dunkerley noted: "The traffic that appears to us to be least strategically important to them, and therefore most dispensable, is connections from airlines seeking access to the US domestic market." Mr Dunkerley said Hawaiian Airlines was now experiencing a "dramatic" increase in requests to access its US domestic feed from international carriers, noting: "They once enjoyed it from the major US airlines."
