Gulf Air: Operational changes encouraging efficiency are essential in the Middle East

Gulf Air acting CEO Maher Salman Al Musallam said (31-Aug-2014) that given the "context of a power struggle between regional carriers and continually growing airspace congestion, operational changes encouraging efficiency are essential" in the airline sector across the Middle East. Mr Al Musallam noted that even with the level of competition in the region, there is plenty of opportunity for Gulf Air. Mr Al Musallam also stated Gulf Air is also engaged in negotiations with aircraft manufacturers to ensure that its future fleet and network requirements are met by its order book. According to the CAPA Fleet Database, Gulf Air has 37 aircraft in order: One A319; 10 A320neos; 16 Boeing 787-8s and 10 Bombardier CS-100s. [more - original PR]
